Although a bit late, we wanted to share that the Infantium Team was honored to be one of the attendees (and speakers!) to the presentation event of Windows8 and Windows Phone 8 in Catalan, held the past Thursday, November 8th, at the Mediapro Auditorium Imagina.
The event was conducted by Carles Grau, Microsoft in Catalonia and Public Sector Director, Carles Flamerich, General Director of Telecommunications and Information Society of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Carles Fradera, General Director of Barcelona Digital Technology Center, Xavier Llobera, Director of the Microsoft Innovation Center - Productivity (MIC Productivity), Jorge Cordova, Reseller Channel Director Spain & Portugal of Intel Corporation Iberia, Jose Ignacio Fernandez, Head of Key Accounts and Technology Consultants, and Albert Esplugas, Director of Strategy and Business Development at Microsoft
For those who haven't upgraded to Windows 8, just highlight that it incorporates a new and improved user interface, lots of customization options and connection, and a lot of great applications (the most popular ones, for instance). Windows 8 has had more than four million sales during the first three days, and it is now available in over a thousand models of tablets, notebooks, convertibles, or PCs (like Sony, Lenovo, HP,). And of course, the surface.
During the event Windows Phone 8 was also introduced. With lots of customization features, we’d like to highlight the home screen personalization, access to all information and content in real time through the Live Tiles, ability to create private spaces for sharing content with closed groups (rooms ) or the Children's Corner (or Kid's Corner). This allows the user to customize a set of apps, games and media which they want their children to access. Kids can access this by swiping to the left on the lockscreen.
The presentation also unveiled some of the best apps “made in Catalonia”. We were fortunate to present the infantium project together with TV3 (VOD), Sage (with e-bill) and other entrepreneurs as Bismart (biGov). Llobera Xavier also presented other than Android for Windows8 OKI OKIPOS +, MYCO of Raona, Seidor and App Seidor doseApp, or Anuntis and Softonic.
For the whole team it was a great experience and a big honour to be there. From the first moment that the idea came up about a year ago, one of our main supporters has been Microsoft Ibérica. Not only through its global program for entrepreneurs Bizspark, and its extension for high-growth startups Bizspark Plus, but by means of the whole Microsoft team (Elisa Garcia, Lidia, Camilo, Luis, Xavier Llobera, etc.). They have been critical contributing to realize the idea, to implement our pilot project, to facilitate our growth, and give us all the tools needed for execution. But we especially want to thank Carles. As we always like to say, if it wasn't for Carles Grau, we probably would not be here now. His unconditional support when we were just an idea, proximity, and his advice have been critical during the way.
So again, Thanks Carles! :)
